The Free Internet Project

Projects

Legal Efforts

Our current project is to track legal efforts to protect Internet freedoms around the world. We analyze countries in terms of their legal protections for (1) digital rights or individual rights online, including free speech, privacy, and access, (2) safe harbors for Internet service providers from liability based on third party activity, and (3) net neutrality.  Sometimes, these freedoms are recognized in a new "Internet constitution" or "Internet bill of rights."
